PROBLEM:

Your meta description and keywords show up blank on your home page:

<meta name="keywords" content="" />
<meta name="description" content="" />

The meta information that are entered in articles is used only in the menu items that are of Article Layout.

If the menu item Home is of the type Front Page Blog Layout then the meta information in the Global Configuration would be used.

But you entered the information and it still does not show.

QUESTION:

Are you using Joomfish?  If so, read on as to how I solved it. 

Go Here:

Joomla Administrator >> Components >> JoomFish >> Control Panel >> Parameters

Change this: Overwrite global config values

To NO

Please note,  I have another site 2.0.2 and this works fine without this change.  My site is running JF 2.2.3 (Newer) and is experiencing this issue.

You may also want to consider removing the additional tag created by Joomla in your meta tags:

To completely remove any reference to "<meta name="generator" content="Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management" />"

open/edit the file "head.php", located in the folder "/var/www/vhosts/domainx.com/httpdocs/libraries/joomla/document/html/renderer"

find "meta name="generator" (in version 1.5 at line 83) and remove or better still: comment-out that line:
